Hey Lauren,

What’s up girl! That’s for being the first person to reach out to this advice column. I love your blog so please go check out Lauren’s blog, here. Panic attacks while talking to other people, especially a crowd, is common. Panic attacks take many forms. Mild attacks can include drumming your fingers, bouncing your knee, or twitching. You might not know it, but there are probably many other people in your class that get stressed out when they have to do a presentation in front of the class, take an important exam or just talk to someone they don’t know very well. Unfortunately, it’s speaking to others is an important skill. These are some tips I personally have for shyness, stress, presentations, and exams.

  1. Relax: what’s the worst thing that can happen? Relax by taking a couple deep breaths, in through your nose, out through your mouth, when your feel a panic attack coming up. Swallow your nerves and relax your body. You’ve got this.
  2. Surround yourself by people you are comfortable with. You will break out of your shell and be less shy if you are with those that support you and make you happy.
  3. Be prepared. If you are prepared for your exam or presentation, you’ll be fine. Be as prepared as possible so you can remove some of your jitters.
  4. Don’t overthink it. Don’t think about the what-if’s. Instead imagine yourself doing nailing your presentation or acing your exam. The more positive energy you put in, the more calm and happy you’ll be.
  5. And lastly, have fun! I know that sounds unbelievably cheesy, but if you have fun, smile, and breathe, your nerves will relax, and the nervous energy will leave your body.

I hope this helped, Lauren! Love you so much! Again go check out her blog here! If this helped go ahead and like my post or comment! If you want help, email californiangirlblog@gmail.com.
